GAZA, Feb 5 (NNN-KUNA) — Dr Salah Al-Bardaweel, a leading member of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), has hailed as “positive and constructive” the meeting between the prime minister of the Palestinian government in Gaza Ismail Haniyah and Nabil Shaath, member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting which took place at Haniyah’s house in the Al-Shate’ refugee camp here on Thursday, Al-Bardaweel said the meeting aimed to break the political deadlock between Hamas and Fatah.
“The talks, also attended by other leading members of the two movements, focused on the attempts to achieve reconciliation, adopt the Egyptian-brokered deal and bridge the gap between the two movements,” he disclosed.
The two sides agreed to form a joint task force to solve “the field problems,” Al-Bardaweel said.
“They reached agreement to work together to achieve reconciliation under Egyptian guarantees out of the conviction that the stand off poses grave risk to the entire Palestine question,” he added.
Meanwhile, Al-Bardaweel urged the Egyptian leaders to seize this opportunity and press ahead towards finalising the reconciliation deal.
