TWENTY-FOUR religious officers and teachers attended the first phase of the Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency First Aid course from February 2-4 organised by the Islamic Institute Department at the National Resuscitation, Ministry of Health in Ong Sum Ping.
The Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency aid given to those without pulse and who are not breathing. It is to help the heart to pump oxygen to the entire body. The emergency aid is essential to be given before the arrival of ambulance to help save lives, avoid any further serious injury, reduce the pain and as a precaution before being taken over by doctors.
Similar courses will be held for other groups in the coming weeks until April.
The facilitators of the course are from the Resuscitation Centre led by Pengiran Hj Abu Bakar bin Pg Hj I brahim.
The objectives of the course are to provide information to the religious officers and teachers on actions to be taken during an emergency or accident, to give motivation and confidence when facing emergencies, upgrade the professionalism in every situation and to have a guideline as a basis during emergency cases in schools or offices.
