BOLIVIA REJECTS U.S. INTELLIGENCE ?STABILITY ?REPORT

NAM NEWS NETWORK Feb 6th, 2010 .

LA PAZ, Feb 6 (NNN-Prensa Latina): Authorities of the legislative and executive branches of Bolivia have rejected a report by U.S. intelligence that points to the South American nation as a country that threatens stability in Latin America.

According to the senator for the governing Movement to Socialism (MAS), Isaac Avalos it was another act of interference in the internal affairs of the South American nation.

Avalos considered the report as far from reality, as other nations who also allegedly threatened the region are more sympathetic than any other, in reference to Cuba, Venezuela, Ecuador and Nicaragua.

Internal Affairs Deputy Gustavo Torrico said that in 2009 Bolivia had significant achievements in the fight against drug trafficking, without the presence of elite units or advisers of the northern country, who only engaged in plotting against the president.

President Evo Morales accused the USadministration on the eve of Barack Obama to change policies to regain power in some Latin American countries.

“It is no longer with coups d’etat” but that “seeks to internal conflict, to weaken any process of profound transformation in Latin America,” he said

The Head of State made these statements in Oruro during the proclamation of their candidates for elections on April 4.

The intelligence report entitled “Annual Threat Assessment against national security” concludes that democracy remains strong in Latin America and the Caribbean, although in some countries, democracy and free markets are facing threats of criminality.

Diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Bolivia have deteriorated since 2009.

Last September, Morales expelled U.S. Ambassador Philip Goldberg, accused of being part of a plot organized by the opposition against his government.

The Head of State last year also suspended all activities of the U.S. anti-drug agency.
