Keep up with fly Girl Feez Madea

Danial Norjidi Feb 7th, 2010 .

Brunei’s singing sensation Feez Madea has been named Pelangi 91.4 FM’s Artist of the Month for February 2010.

Feez M, the champion of Pilihan-Akira Talentime back in 2005, is now under Leiley’s Production House (‘LPH’) and currently one of the top Bruneian acts on the frontlines of a fast-growing music scene. At the tender age of 22 years old, Feez has already accomplished more than many do in a lifetime, having already cemented herself in the local entertainment industry as both a singer and an actress.

Her numerous achievements include being part of the Thailand Music Festival in Bangkok especially for King Bumiphul in 2006, and going to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam as Miss Brunei for the Asean Beauties ‘Global Flower Girls 2009′ programme by Guangxi TV station, China.

Also in 2009, Feez Madea sang for the Sounds of Hope concert (a show that aimed to raise money for the country’s poverty-stricken citizens), was nominated by the Pelangi Awards in the Best Female Category 08-09, and impressed onstage at the high-profile Micbandits’ “It’s A Wrap” event.

Last year also saw Feez M’s participation (a special finale performance) in the Artly Designs fashion show, while this year she received yet another nomination in the Popular Singer category at the recently concluded RTB Awards.

However, perhaps the biggest accolade so far would be winning Best Pop Song (Silver Trophy) for her song “Fly” at last month’s Voize Independent Music Awards (VIMA) ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In addition, “Fly” was also officially named the ‘Best Song of 2009′ by Pelangi, even compared to international selections, and based on airplays and requests, as well as it staying the No 1 record in local charts for at least seven consecutive weeks.

Her new song “Never Leave Me” premiered exclusively on 91.4 FM at 5pm last Friday (Feb 5) and she is reportedly set to have a follow-up live interview this upcoming Friday sometime in the evening.

On that particular night, an official Facebook fan page will also finally be announced and opened for all her supporters, while the new song will soon be handed over to other radio stations this week. In an exclusive interview with the lady herself, Feez commented:

“‘Never Leave Me’ is a love song – a beautiful, freaky love song. It’s me experimenting with my voice, coming up with a weird melody and then harmonising it, using lyrics once again provided by ‘Aiden Adams’, and co-produced with Micbandits. ‘Never Leave Me’ is actually dedicated to all my fans, who have been wanting to hear my latest work – Cheers!”

“January 2010 was already so busy for me. One big achievement was bringing home the VIMA trophy from KL. I feel so blessed, as this is the first music award I’ve ever received in my life! I hope there will be more to come. I just have to work really hard in making my dreams come true and I really want to make or be the change in Brunei’s arts scene,” she added.

“But then, I’m a pretty simple girl. I would say that I’m very bubbly and outrageous. Be different, you know? Why be or stay the same? My genre is Variety, or versatility. I don’t just do pop or ballads or hip-hop – I go for everything! Why limit yourself, right? I like to experiment and, if I have the chance, I would love to learn how to play the harp.

“I feel truly honoured to be Pelangi’s Artist of the Month again and I thank the radio station so much for this. The last time was in October 2007, and I think this is a great platform for any artist or upcoming talent, as there are segments for promos, an interview and a sing-along programme with the listeners.”

“Aside from De Image salon, which is one of my kind sponsors, I want to thank all my incredible fans out there who have been so supportive of me all this time. Without you guys, I wouldn’t be here now. Keep an ear out, as I will be releasing more records in the near future. The year 2010 so far has already been crazy and busy for me, and I’m hoping that there will be more nice surprises coming my way.”

In another separate interview, her manager – who also happens to be a long-time best friend – said, “As someone who has been supportive of all Bruneian artistes, just as Feez Madea is, I am very proud, honoured and privileged to represent her particularly, because we are so alike and also secretly share a wonderful, really noble mission.

Speaking about her future plans, he remarked, “It’s no lie. Feez M continues to be in very high demand until today, and therefore some things have had to be postponed. Let’s just say for now we are aiming to have products out due to overwhelming requests – hopefully all that could happen this year – and there would be some occasional travels, as Feez will be taken again and again to perform abroad.”

With all the special potential and star quality this young woman clearly possesses, it seems that Feez Madea is surely destined to fly high – and it will be up to the public to try and keep up with her.
