The publication of a collective book on the nation’s philosophy of “Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) will become one of the “treasured references” that will help guard and strengthen the MIB philosophy.
Pehin Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Rahman said that it is even more important because the book is written by individuals who possess great expertise in the matter.
The Minister of Education was the guest of honour during the launching ceremony of the new MIB Collective Book yesterday at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
The book comprised of several compilations of MIB related feature articles published by the government newsletter `Pelita Brunei’ from 1984 to 2009.
Also present were the chief of Adat Istiadat Negara (Royal Customs and Traditions) YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz, cabinet ministers and other top level government officers.
Pehin Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Rahman believed that with the collection of writings, some from well-known local writers, the book would become a strong platform for those who want to delve deeper into the nation’s philosophy.
“The contents will help us to comprehend the deeper meaning of MIB, either in the historical sense or in the matters of language, literature, geography, economy, social, culture and foreign communication,” the education minister said.
“The comprehension consequent from reading the articles in there will dodge any confusion relating to the understanding of MIB as a whole. By the will of Allah.”
For the Bruneians, he said, our life moments are filled and based on our foremost principles in life that are mostly within the MIB philosophy itself.
“Either in our utterance words, behaviour, food and drinks or our actions — often than not we always acted upon or guided within the boundaries of the MIB philosophy”, he explained.
He reminded that in the Vision 2035, Brunei wants to be known in the world as having a successful population that is educated and highly skilled; with an undivided and unconditional loyalty to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam and the Country; committed towards the Islamic values and social harmony.
This is a big responsibility on the part for ministries such as the Ministry of Education, he said, in producing successful population with the concept of MIB.
“Alhamdulillah, with the implementation of curriculum and co curriculum in every level of schooling, from primary to tertiary education, has been equip with their respective stage in MIB subjects and activities, as one of the steps taken to ensure MIB will become the life pulse of the younger generation …”
In a welcoming speech delivered by co-chairman of the event, Dr Muhammad Hadi Md Melayong, the Director of the Information Department, said the newly launched Collective Book on MIB is a collection of working papers or features published in the government newsletter “Pelita Brunei” from 1984 until 2009.
The book has 24 features written by local writers related to the MIB concept.
With the publication of the book, the Director of Information has a high hope that the SPN 21 education system will make use of the book as a reference book on MIB subjects.
A special talk was presented by the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
His presentation was entitled, “Malay Islamic Monarchy as the Core in National Education”.
