THE Health Unit of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School (SUAMPRIPAD) recently organised a half-day training programme on nutrition.
Its objectives were to educate students to make good food choices and reinforce the idea of healthy eating to make them more conscious of what they consume.
A talk on ‘Nutritious Food’ was delivered by Dayang Norlinda Hj Nawi, an officer from the Community Nutrition Services Unit, Ministry of Health.
According to Dayang Norlinda, food consumed at school contributes substantially to students’ daily nutrient intake and has a considerable influence in the development of their eating habits, growth patterns and energy levels.
She asked them not to skip breakfast as it is the most important meal of the day. She urged the school and students to work together to build a culture where students can actively choose nutritious food and a healthy lifestyle.
A total of 250 participants, including senior officers, teachers, cooks and students attended the programme, which also included a poster exhibition.
