ADDIS ABABA, Feb 9 (NNN-SUNA) — The Chairman of the African Union (AU) Commission, Jean Ping, has welcomed media reports on the resumption of dialogue between Sudan and Chad, and the visit paid by Chad’s President Idris Deby to Sudan.
He said in a statement here that the summit meeting between the leaders of Sudan and Chad would provide a strong boost to the action and meetings which had achieved decisions for realizing a quick and better security at the joint border.
Meanwhile, Ping has again voiced the AU’s support for dialogue between the two neighbouring countries and for implementation of the agreements which were signed by them. He stressed that the AU reiterated its encouragement to Chad and Sudan to continue dialogue and co-operation which would be useful for both parties.
He hoped that the spirit of reconciliation, mutual respect and brotherhood would prevail at the current important stage in Sudanese-Chadian relations till solutions of the pending problems at the region could be reached, especially the Darfur issue, so that all the concerned nations and the whole of Africa could enjoy peace, security and development.
