THE Brunei Amateur Swimming Association’s team won 25 gold, 33 silver and 28 bronze medals at the just concluded 14th Miri Age Group Swimming Championship to emerge runners-up over the weekend in Miri.
In addition to the haul of medals, one National Age Group record was shattered and Nur Farizzah bte Mohd Shafiee was named best swimmer for age group 5 – winning three gold and one silver.
She has also broke the national age group record for 8 years and under for 50m breaststroke from 53.55 seconds to 52.63 seconds
Meanwhile, Sabrina Liew won six gold and two silver medals and was named best swimmer for age group 4.
A total of 145 swimmers participated in the championship where 21 out of Brunei’s 27 swimmers won medals and 23 out of 27 swimmers have improved their best swimming time records.
The Brunei Amateur Swimming Association would like to thank all parents of the swimmers for their support and contribution to make BASA participation in this championship a success.
