SIX contestants are currently competing for a spot to represent Brunei Darussalam in the upcoming 8th Asean Skills Competition 2010 in Thailand at the 5th National Skills Competition in the field of Automobile.
The competition was officiated by Mr Leong Cheng Soon, Assistant General Sales Manager of NBT yesterday and will conclude on February 10 at Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College.
- The six contestants are Muhammad Khairul Mummin bin abdul Aziz from Boustead Sdn Bhd, Mohammad Arif bin Hj Duraman and Muhammad Zulfahri bin Hj Rosli, both from the Mechanic Training Centre, Abdul Za’afri bin Abd Za’abah and Abdul Akhimah bin Md Salleh Haini from Sultan Bolkiah Vocational School and Majdurano Joey bin Majallah Sain of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The participants will have to complete six different tasks in three days namely engine tune up, suspension and steering, electrical system, brake system, engine mechanical and automatic transmission.
Also in attendance were instructors from the Mechanic Training centre, SVSB and MKJB as well as experts from automobile agencies from Worldwide Motor Sdn Bhd, Premier Motor Co Sdn Bhd, Boustead Sdn Bhd, Grand Motors Sdn Bhd, Goh Hock Kee Sdn Bhd, Jati Transport Co Sdn Bhd, QAF Auto Sdn Bhd, NBT and Berakas vehicles workshop.
In addition to the competition, side activities such as a car exhibition from Premier Motor Co Sdn Bhd and Worldwide Motor Sdn Bhd as well as a motorcycle display from Qlap custom Bikes and Services Equipment from Autotools were also held.
A consultation session for people interested to join the Mechanic Training Center was organised at the event.
