CAIRO, Feb 9 (NNN-KUNA) — Fatah Central Committee member Nabil Shaath has said here that Fatah and Hamas will carry out confidence-building measures to pave way for a conciliation agreement.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting Monday with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa, Shaath said these measures would include Hamas releasing Fatah prisoners in the Gaza Strip and reopening the Fatah office in the Strip within two days, in addition to sending fuel to the besieged Strip.
These measures may encourage Hamas to sign the Egyptian-proposed conciliation paper before next month’s Arab summit in Libya.
Fatah, for its part, would pay the electricity bill of the Gaza Strip, said Shaath.
The Fatah official said the signing of the conciliation agreement would have positive impacts on the Palestinian cause.
