STUDENTS wishing to pursue higher studies scrambled for information on the final day of the Open Day for MoE scholarship division and institutions of higher education at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Berakas.

Representatives from MoE and some higher institutions including private institutions were present to explain the various procedures and advantages of their respective institutions to students.

Also present were the Assistant Director of the Scholarship Section, Ministry of Education, Hj Azis Hj Nayan and officers from the section.

The two-day event was aimed at making students aware of the “transparent” way scholarships are offered by the MoE.

Also participating in the exhibition were local educational institutions such as UBD, UNISSA, ITB and the Laksamana College of Business (LCB) who showcased the variety of courses offered and to help students identify suitable careers by giving advices on universities and colleges accredited by MoE.

According to Hj Azis Hj Nayan, during the Open Day, parents, students and the general public were given the opportunity to interact directly with the respective agencies to discuss future courses as well as job prospects.

He said, “The MoE Scholarship Division emphasise on developing knowledgeable man power resources as well as to realise the SPN21 (National Education System for the 21′ Century) aspiration to produce educated and skilled people for Vision 2035.”

According to one of the visitors, Haji Irwan, both exhibitions were helpful and representatives from the universities gave a clear picture of what to expect from the university in terms of courses available, accommodation, and entry requirements.

He added, “Some companies have made their application processes easier and efficient such as James Hon or HRD Services.”

Some visitors wished the exhibition could be held longer and in a more efficient way in terms of controlling the crowd so that students do not have to wait for a long time.
