Fadhil Yunus Feb 9th, 2010 .

SENIOR nursing officials and other members of nursing staff from the Cardiac Centre attended a doa selamat for two nurses who will be going for advanced training in cardiology in India.

Awg Hj Rani Hj Mohd Yusof, the Director of Nursing and Hj Siti Marium Hj Mohd Jaafar, Chief Executive Officer of RIPAS Hospital were among those present.

Siti Sahriawati Hj Mohd Tanjong and Rahmaswatee bte Hj Abd Rahim have been chosen to visit CMC Vellore, India on the basis of hard work, keen interest and achieving high standards of work. They will learn non-invasive and invasive cardiac work and also various cardiac programmes in the institution during their visit there.

This will be a first for nurses to go to India as in the past, nurses were sent to Melbourne for training on cardiac rehabilitation and heart failure programmes as well as to Singapore and Malaysia for cardiac workshops and meetings.

In delivering his address, Dr Hj Nazar Luqman, Head of Cardiology emphasised the significance of advance training for cardiology nurses. Seminars and symposiums are encouraged and UBD has also introduced a basic Diploma course in cardiology.

It is hoped that programmes like these will facilitate the growth of cardiology in the country and also improve interaction between the health systems of Brunei and India.
