TO FURTHER develop and enhance the skills of counselling techniques, school counsellors from all over the nation participated in a counselling.workshop organised by the Guidance and Career Counselling Unit, Raja Isteri Girls High School (STPRI).
Thirty-two schools and colleges took part in the one-day workshop at STPRI, which aimed to enhance the effectiveness of counselling students in their respective schools.
Deputy Principal of STPRI, Hjh Aisah binti Hj Sandan, in her speech said she hoped the workshop on LDK (Group Counselling) would be useful in helping the counsellors to give better guidance to the students.
Some of the techniques learnt during the workshop will not only give them a better understanding of group counselling but the activities will also help them get a fresh perspective on counselling.
The workshop was conducted by the Brunei Counselling Association President (PERKAB), Captain Rusli Bujang, who said that counsellors are considered as a new profession in Brunei Darussalam, whose roles are not only bound in giving advices to students about their academic studies, but also on a personal level, dealing with their everyday lives, friends, families and even the pressures that students encounter.
