ISLAMABAD, Feb 10 (NNN-KUNA) — At least three security personnel were killed in an explosion on Wednesday in Khyber tribal agency, close to the Afghan border, said officials.
The explosion took place on Jamrud Road of Khyber tribal agency, hours after a military Cobra helicopter crashed in the Tirah valley of the agency, security officials told KUNA.
The nature of the blast was not immediately clear but some local news channels’ reports – citing witnesses – said that it was a suicide blast.
They said the explosion targeted a security forces vehicle that was carrying about ten to fifteen security personnel of Khasadar Force.
According to initial reports, said officials, about three personnel were killed and several others were wounded.
Officials said that the explosion badly damaged the security vehicle. They feared a rise in the death toll. — NNN-KUNA
