THE Language and Literature Bureau Mobile Library Service was officially launched yesterday by Acting Director of Language and Literature Bureau for Brunei District I and II of School Department, Dyg Hjh Hasnah Binti Kula at Katok ‘A’ Primary School.

The event also coincided with the launching of the school’s Aspire (Assisting People In Reading) Programme.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through the Language and Literature Bureau launched the project to cultivate the reading culture at all social levels including the rural areas especially longhouses, said the Language and Literature Bureau Chief Awg Haji Shari.

The Language and Literature Bureau will look at ways to upgrade and enhance its service quality, he said. He reminded pupils that books they borrow from the library should be returned before the presentation of their leaving certificate.

The Aspire Programme is an English reading programme the implementation of which would be monitored by teachers and appointed committee members.

It aims to enhance the pupils’ learning in English and other subjects related to the English language. Parents also play an important role to ensure the success of the programme.
