MoH reminds public on H1N1 precautions

THE Ministry of Health reminded the public on the importance of safeguarding against the Influenza A (HIN1) virus, and provided tips in helping curb the spread of the disease.

Members of the public are reminded to wash their hands using soap and water and to use disposable napkins or hand-dryers to dry their hands. The ministry also advised them to use disposable tissues containing alcohol or disinfectant gel should the hand-washing facilities become unavailable.

It is also important to cover your nose and mouth with tissue when sneezing or coughing and to immediately discard the used tissue responsibly.

Members of the public have also been urged to visit health care centres that have been established around the nation to receive H1N1 vaccination jabs. The vaccination is especially important for those with chronic lung diseases,

chronic heart diseases, chronic kidney diseases, chronic liver diseases, ‘chronic neurological diseases, low immune system as well as for those who are suffering from diabetes.

For the Brunei-Muara District, the public can visit the Vaccination Centre at the National Indoor Stadium in Berakas, Berakas ‘A’ Health Centre, Ong Sum Ping Health Centra and the Jubilee Perak Health Centre in Sengkurong.

The designated vaccination centre for the Tutong District is the Tutong Hospital, while the Belait and Temburong districts are served by centres at the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital and the PHIM Hospital, respectively.

Those who show flu-like symptoms are advised to keep away from crowded areas, lessen social interaction and immediately seek treatment.
