ISLAMABAD, Feb 10 (NNN-KUNA) — A Pakistani Minister Wednesday – confirming the death of a Taliban chief – said that Pakistan is not negotiating with Taliban.
Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, told reporters in Peshawar city that Hakimullah Mehsud has been killed in a US drone strike.
This is the first time that any Pakistani official has confirmed the killing of Hakimulah Mehsud.
“Hakeemullah Mehsud is dead,” said the minister, adding that he has irrefutable evidences in this regard.
Taliban on Tuesday confirmed the killing of their chief after weeks of speculations.
To another question, the Minister said that he was opposed to any talks with Taliban.
He said that the government is not currently holding talks with Taliban.
However, he added, talks could be held if they quit arms and stop suicide blasts. ? NNN-KUNA![]()
