KHARTOUM, Feb 12 (NNN-SUNA) — A high-level delegation of the Secretariat-General of the Arab League, led by Secretary-General Amr Moussa, and including the permanent members of the League, arrives here Saturday for a three-day visit to Sudan, during which a meeting at the level of envoys to the Arab League will be held in Al-Fasher, capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan.
The Director of the Peace and Humanitarian Affairs Administration at Sudan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, Mohamed Abdalla Idris, said in press statement Thursday that the holding of the meeting of the permanent envoys in Al-Fasher would affirm the great concern of the Arab League over Sudanese issues, especially the Darfur issue.
He adde that the delegation would inaugurate three villages set up for voluntary repatriation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and a number facilities in the context of the Arab League projects in Darfur.
He described the holding of the meeting in Al-Fasher as an unprecedented move because the Arab League had customarily held its meetings at the level of ambassadors at the headquarters of the Secretariat-General in Cairo. — NNN-SUNA![]()
