ALGIERS, Feb. 17 (NNN-APS): The vaccination of people with chronic diseases against the A/H1N1 influenza (swine flu) has begun on Tuesday in all hospitals and specialized health centres, said the Ministry of Heath, Population and Hospital Reform in a statement.
“Peoples suffering from chronic illnesses are the most vulnerable, and their vaccination is strongly recommended so as to reduce swine flu complications and risks of death. These people are in the priority groups of the vaccination programme,” the ministry said.
The A/H1N1 influenza “can cause complications of the chronic disease requiring intensive care in hospital and can even lead to death,” the statement said, mentioning particularly the cases of heart, respiratory and kidney diseases, as well as diabetes, obesity, cancer and anaemia.
