Road accidents claim two lives in four days

TWO men including a foreign. national were killed in a car accident as well as in a car and motorcycle collision in the past four days, according to the latest reports from the Royal Brunei Police Force.

A total of 34 cases of road and traffic accidents were reported over the same period throughout the country. The number includes 24 car collisions, eight self-accidents including the mishap in which the foreign national was killed, a car and motorcycle collision in which a 21year-old man perished, and one self-accident involving a motorcyclist. The Brunei-Muara District recorded 20 of the 34 cases, followed by the Belait (10), Tutong (3) and Temburong (1) Districts.

Fourteen theft cases were also reported in the same four-day period. Items lost include a car engine, jewellery, six handphones, three computers, two amplifiers, two television sets, five handbags, a bicycle, 71 metres of electrical cable and cash totalling B$3,300.

The police also recorded a case of a runaway maid, a theft case with four local men aged between 15 and 17 detained, three assaults, a “dissatisfaction” case, vandalism (1), attempted rape and assault case (1), a house fire at Kg Bukit Panggal in Tutong, and three cases of trespassing.

The police also recorded one gambling and cockfighting case, two misuse of drugs cases with two locals aged 36 and 41 arrested, and a customs case in which 50 cans of Tiger Beer, 11 bottles of Carlsberg and a bottle of liquor were found inside a car boot.

Throughout the same period, five local men and two women were arrested, while a suspected Immigration offender was also apprehended.
