TWO veteran teams from the Brunei Darussalam Veteran Football Association will leave for Penang on March 4 to take part in the 11th PSC International Soccer 7′s 2010.

The teams that mostly comprised former national players will be competing in two categories – Masters (45 and above) and Veteran (35-40 years old).

Led by coach Nordin Tujoh, the squad in the Master Category are made up of Liew Chuan Fue, Hj Md Sallehin Kee Abdullah, Puncha Gunong, Ukoi Anam, Lim Sun Hui, Sheikh Nordin Sheikh Mohamad, Metussin
Sumpong, Hj Shaari Hj Tahir and Kula Mohamad.

The Veteran team led by coach Ishak Hj Kabon consists of Azamanuddin Hj Gillen, Sharbini Mohidin, Suni Mat Jerah, Ishak Hj Ibrahim, Hj Hassan Hj Damit, Tajul Ariffin Sumpong, Alijanda Sitom, Ali Hj Momin, Pg Sallehuddin Pg Hj Damit and Abdullah Hj Raini.

Pea Chong Koon, a committee member of the Brunei Darussalam Veteran Football Association said: “Both teams have been training all-year round. The players have been playing at least twice a week.”

Ishak Hj Kabon, the coach of the Veteran team is aiming for high achievement in the tournament.

“This time both teams are aiming to enter the final of the their respective categories. The Masters team who had won the tournament in 2008 will be hoping to repeat their achievement this time around.”

Pea also pointed out that this is the first major tournament the Brunei Veteran Football Association is taking part after the setting up of the association end of last year.

“Within this year, we are planning to organise a national veteran football league and also our own international invitation veteran football championship late this year.”

Pea also mentioned that in addition to the 11″‘ PSC International Soccer 7′s, they are also expected to send team to Bangkok as well as Selangor, Malaysia.
