NAM NEWS NETWORK Feb 20th, 2010 .

HAVANA, Feb 20 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Delegations of businessmen and experts from Cuba and the United States will meet from March 24 to 26 in Cancun for a new conference on travel between the two countries, it was confirmed Friday.

The event, preceded by two previous editions, the last being in 2003, is organized by Alamar Associates Consultant under the auspices of United States Tour-Operators Association.

It is also supported by companies such as Marazul Charters, Vigilant Wordlwide Communications and The American Group, all based in the United States.

At a press conference, Kirby Jones, Alamar Associates’ president, highlighted what he considers a positive environment for the effort of achieving the elimination by Washington’s government of the NorthamericanâÖs ban on travel to Cuba.

According to Jones, it is about restoring to the citizens of that country their right to travel freely, something guaranteed by the Constitution of the Union.

He added that the exchange, to be attended by delegates from companies that move 85 percent of the trips from that country to others, will show the interest in achieving the abovementioned purpose.

He considered that, in parallel, the Conference will be scene of the positive contacts between businessmen to discuss possible business, after a future elimination of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States half a century ago.

On the Cuban side, Miguel Figueras found interesting that the meeting would be held in Cancun and recalled that Cuba is the safest destination for United States’ tourists. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
