CHICLAYO (PERU), Feb 20 (NNN-ANDINA) — President Alan Garcia Perez said Friday that the Peruvian Government will supply electricity to 10,000 rural towns by 2011, since one of his administration’s goals is to provide the country’s poorest people with basic rights such as electricity, potable water and title deeds.
President Garcia made these statements during the inauguration of a rural electrification project for 23 towns in Peru?s Lambayeque region.
Speaking in front of hundreds of people gathered at the town of Arrozal in Motupe province, President Garcia committed to send technical staff to conduct studies aimed at providing potable water to this area.
In addition, he announced that the Ministry of Education will send computers in order to provide quality education to all local students.
Garcia Perez reiterated that the Government?s goals are to supply potable water services to the greatest possible number of towns, bring electricity to 94% of towns across the country and grant title deeds to Peruvian farmers.
The Peruvian leader added that the government will build a new hospital in Motupe. ?Gradually we will meet the needs of the population,? he said, ?because our plan is to strengthen social democracy.? — NNN-ANDINA![]()
