A MOTIVATIONAL talk was held for Year Six students as well as their parents at Al-Falaah School, Taman Manggis Manis.
The talk was organised and held to provide encouragement to the Year Six students who will be sitting for their PSR examinations later this year. The talk was conducted by an invited guest speaker — Cikgu Wan Ali Wan Ibrahim — who is a well-known local motivator.
Nineteen parents attended the talk that was aimed at providing the “right recipe” and guidance to their respective children in order to ensure that they are fully prepared mentally for this important examination. Cikgu Wan Ali highlighted a basic guideline that he encouraged the Year Six students to follow as it would assist them in maximising their potential and as a result achieve success in their academic studies.
According to Cikgu Wan Ali, parents must be strict but gracious with their children and at the same time teach them to live and uphold a high level of self-discipline.
They should always monitor the activities of their children at home, ensuring that they make good and positive use of the time allotted to them by studying and most importantly, understanding the contents of their schoolwork. He advised them against wasting their time unnecessarily by pursuing activities that are not beneficial such as excessively watching TV and playing videogames.
According to a schoolteacher who was also present during the talk, the objective of the talk was to provide motivation to not just the students but to the parents as well as they too are responsible for their child’s well-being. By encouraging their children to ‘think smart’ they will ultimately save themselves a great deal of stress and time in the long-run as there will always be an opportunity to have fun after the completion of their studies.
She also added that 19 of the school’s Year Six students will be sitting for their PSR examinations this year. Last year the school achieved a 100 per cent rate of passes and hoped that the school would be able to retain this very high standard of success through the achievements of its students. The motivational talk is just one of many activities conducted by the school to encourage parents to never cease providing encouragement and motivation to their children, to always be there for them in facing all academic challenges.
