A BADMINTON championship for government primary and private schools for zone Brunei II A ended recently. The three-day event was held at Pusat Belia.
Sekolah Rendah Dato Othman was given the honour by the Department of Co-curriculum Education to host the championship. Some 12 schools participated in the championship. It was divided into four groups – Boys Team, Girls Team, Men’s Single and Women’s Single.
The chief guest, PW2 (Rtd) Awg Hj Hamdani bin Omar, Village Head of STKRJ Lambak Kiri presented the prizes to the winners. In the final of the Boys Team Championship, SR Dato Marsal were champions after beating SR Amar Pahlawan 21-14, 21-19 while SR Dato Marsal also won the girls team category after beating SR Datu Maha Wangsa Lambak Kanan 21-15, 21-13.
Awang Mohd Syafiq Jefry from SR Dato Othman won the boys single title after defeating Siddiq Sapawi 21-14, 21-19, also from the same school. Hassan Ali
