RUSTENBURG, Feb 25 (NNN-BUANEWS) — England head coach Fabio Capello has dismissed media reports claiming that his team’s training base camp at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Campus in Rustenburg, was not up to standard and “a dump”.

After a two-day team workshop of the 32 nations which have qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in Sun City this week, Capello said England was ready to sign the contract with the Royal Bafokeng Sports Campus.

He said although construction work was still underway at the facility, he was confident that the pitches at the centre would be completed on time and before his team arrives at the site in South Africa’s North West province. The tournament takes place from June 11 to July 11.

Half of the five-star hotel has been completed, but media reports claim that the facility was still a building site.

On Monday, Capello, FIFA General-Secretary Jerome Valcke and 2010 Local Organizing Committeee (LOC) chief executive Dr Danny Jordaan inspected the facility.

“We checked everything and it has improved a lot from the last time we stayed here. The pitches are good and will look even better in June. The hotel is really nice and the medical centre will be ready in two months. I’m really happy because it’s the third time I’ve stayed here and the facilities are fantastic,” said Capello.

He said after visiting three other sites, they found this one to be the best and the team was now ready to sign up for the facility. — NNN-BUANEWS
