TUNE TALK SIZZLES UP LE TOUR DE LANGKAWI

To participate in LTDL Cavalcade procession covering over 1,000km

PETALING JAYA, 25 February 2010 – Tune Talk, the country’s newest mobile service provider will be heating up the 15th Edition of Asia’s premier cycling event, Le Tour de Langkawi (LTDL) 2010 by participating in the Tour’s cavalcade procession from 26 February – 7 March.

Tune Talk’s striking red and white car will be part of LTDL’s cavalcade procession that starts with a pre-event tour starting off at the LTDL Headquarters in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur heading for Kuantan on Friday 26 February. From Kuantan, the convoy will be going to Kuala Terengganu on Saturday and then Kota Bharu on Sunday to prepare for the LTDL official flag-off the following day.

While stopping overnight in Kuantan and Kuala Terengganu, various fun-filled activities including artiste performances, games and lucky draws will be held at the Berjaya Mega Mall, Kuantan and Dataran Batu Burok, Kuala Terengganu.

Upon official flagging off of the LTDL race in Kota Bharu on Monday 1 March, the cavalcade together with participating cyclists will go through seven states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and two Federal Territories – Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur covering a total distance of 1,013.9 km.

A total of 120 cyclists from 20 teams including 2 local teams will compete in the race, comprising 7 stages which are Kota Bharu – Kuala Berang covering 174.5km, followed by Kuala Terengganu – Chukai (182.3km), Pekan – Mersing (145.6km), Mersing – Parit Sulong (163.5km), Muar – Port Dickson (111.5km), Putrajaya – Genting Highlands (102.8km) and Kuala Kubu Baru – Dataran Merdeka (133.7km).

The convoy will make stops at designated points along the routes where spectators and local residents can grab interesting Tune Talk gifts. Tune Talk will also have an exhibition booth at each start and finish venue where members of the public can take part in a variety of activities like games and quizzes. Tune Talk SIM packs and reload vouchers will also be on sale.

The Tour which was first introduced in 1996 has reached the highest status since the first edition and for 2010 it is graded again as a Hors Class (2.HC) race by the International Cycling Union (UCI) – equivalent to the prestigious status of major races in Europe. Organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports together with the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF), LTDL is under the Patronage of the Prime Minister.
Tune Talk, which was launched in August 2009, has become the country’s fastest growing telco with close to 700,000 activated subscribers at present. It aims to have 1 million users by August 2010. Tune Talk is the lowest flat rate prepaid service in the country charging only 22 sen per minute for voice calls and 5 sen per SMS.
