ADDIS ABABA, Feb 26 (NNN-ENA) — Eight Italian companies and Consorzio Italy, a consortium representing 15 entrepreneurs, will take part in the 14th Addis Chamber International Trade Fair which begins here on Friday
Italian Ambassador to Ethiopia Dr. Raffaele de Lutio said here Thursday that small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) account for more than 60 per cent of the Italian economy.
These enterprises are also working in various countries, he said, adding that for example more than 50 Italian micro and small-scale enterprises were active in Romania.
The companies significantly contributed in knowledge and technology transfer as well as creating jobs, the ambassador said, adding that Italian companies were keen to expand their businesses in Ethiopia.
Consorzio Italy President Fabio Santoni said Italian companies engaged in engineering, transport, manufacturing machines for the processing of marble, agro-industry processing, leather, food, textile and clothing industry, machinery and equipment for agriculture, among others, will take part in the trade fair.
The companies are keen to work together with Ethiopian companies, Santoni said, adding, that during their stay here the companies would hold discussions with Ethiopian investors.
Some 108 companies from 23 countries and 117 domestic enterprises are taking part in the trade fair, which will run until March 3.
Consorzio Italy is a multi-sector consortium founded by the Italian Small and Medium Enterprises association. Its main focus is the development of business opportunities in different countries, in Africa and Ethiopia in particular. — NNN-ENA![]()
