THE Parent-Teacher Association of Chung Hwa Middle School Kuala Belait held its 4′h Annual General Meeting in the school auditorium, recently. The AGM was attended by the school staff, students’ parents, PTA committee members, and some invited guests.
The school’s principal, Ms Hong Geok Cheng delivered the welcoming address in which she thanked all the parents, staff and PTA committee members that were present at the meeting, as well as invited guest speaker from Kuching, Sarawak, Ms Jong Oi Jen. This was followed by an opening speech by the honorary chairman of the PTA, Mr Terry D Jayasuriya.
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of certificates of appreciation by the principal to the founding PTA office-bearers for the 2007/2008 session. The PTA honorary chairman later handed over five sets of computer speakers to the school, donated by the PTA for use by teachers and students in the ICT classrooms.
The evening ended with a heartwarming talk entitled “Inculcating Good Values in Our Children,” which was delivered by Ms Jong Oi Jen from the ‘Di Zi Gui’ Chinese Society of Kuching, Sarawak, and a Q&A session. – Gerard Sung
