After 12 consecutive nights of chanting praises for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to commemorate the prophet’s birthday, which was celebrated yesterday nationwide, a closing dikir ceremony was held at Istana Nurul Iman last night.
The ceremony was initiated by the reading of surah al-fatihah, led by Pehin Khatib Awg Hj Mustafa Hj Murat.
A doa selamat following the ceremony was then read by the State Mufti, Pehin Dato Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Abdul Aziz Juned.
Present at the ceremony were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Cheterias, Cabinet Ministers, Members of the Councils, Deputy Ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Pehin Manteris, Manteri-Manteri Pedalaman, Permanent Secretaries and senior government officials.
Similar closing dikir ceremonies had also been held in all mosques, suraus and prayer halls throughout the country last Friday, prior to the grand celebration yesterday morning where Muslims from all walks of life participated in the Maulud Rasul procession, led by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in the capital.
