LA PAZ, March 1 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – Social organisations from Bolivia and Chile will meet on climate change Thurs March 4 to 6 at the Bolivian Consulate in the Chilean city of Antofagasta.
The results of the meeting will be submitted to the World Conference on Climate Change called by President Evo Morales in Cochabamba in April 20-22.
According to sources from the organising committee, a series of documentaries will be screened and experts will present papers on the consequences of global warming on northern Chile.
Participants will also give emphasis on society’s role to counter the effects of climate change, an issue that world authorities do not give priority in the last summit in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Bolivia expects mass participation in the Cochabamba Conference in April, according to Environment Minister Juan Pablo Ramos.
The Cochabamba meeting will be attended by delegates from social organisations, indigenous groups, activists and institutions committed to the defense of the Earth, Ramos said. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
