PAKISTAN: MINISTER REHMAN MALIK CHAIRS MEETING OF ULEMA

KARACHI, March 1 (NNN-APP) — Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik held a meeting with prominent Ulema of different schools of thoughts here on Sunday.

A detailed discussion was held at the meeting on the incidents of violence which took place on the eve of Eid Milad- Un- Nabi (P.B.U.H) in Faisalabad and D.I. Khan and participants of the meeting strongly condemned the untoward incidents.

Federal Minister Rehman Malik said that directives have been issued for investigation of both the incidents and those found guilty would be punished. He said this while talking to the media after the meeting.

He said those involved in incidents of violence on the eve of Eid Milad- Un- Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) could not be Muslim.

He said some elements wanted to create a wedge among people of various religious schools of thought but we would foil their designs through unity of all the school of thoughts.

He also appealed to people of all schools of thoughts to unite and remain calm and peaceful for the sake of Islam, Pakistan and the forthcomming generation.? We all are Muslims and brothers and believe in one Allah and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace BeUpon Him), he added.

The Interior Minister also announced that compensation would be paid to the injured and to the heirs of those martyred as a result of the incidents.

Chairman Central Rued Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb- Ur- Rehman, Maulana Muhammad Asad, Maulana Muhammad Khan, Maulana Muhammad Rehan Amjad, Shahid Ghouri, Maulana Muhammad Usman Yar Khan, Tariq Mehmoob and Qari Muhammad Iqbal were also present in the meeting. — NNN-APP
