UNIVERSITI Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) personnel are leading a group of over 37 of its students on a study trip to Malaysia, which is scheduled to run from March 1 to 5.

The study trip is one of the academic activities organised by the UNISSA Student Council with cooperation from the Students’ Affairs Department.

While there, the group will visit Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). The universities were selected due to their recognition as successful Islamic universities, and also because they offer the same courses as UNISSA.

According to Kujaimah @Hannan bte Haji Abdul Kahar, the deputy dean of Students Affairs, it is at the initiative of the students that the trip has been organised under the supervision of Students Affairs.
“During the visit, the students are expected to share opinions and exchange views with students of UIAM and USIM.
“They are expected to learn about the management of the student council overseas, and will be exposed to external environments to gain knowledge particularly in the academic field. It is hoped they will establish networks among students and be able to review the courses offered. They will also participate in game activities, futsal and dialogue sessions with other students.

“For us supervisors and officers, we will also be learning how the management of students affairs is done over there,” said Kujaimah.

In a separate interview with one of the officers, Siti Hajarwati binti Haji Bolhassan, she said, “I hope to apply what we’ve learnt from UIAM and USIM to the university because these two overseas universities are dubbed as ‘advanced’ and ‘successful.’ So we hope to learn more about time management in terms of activities, academic and spiritual.”
