OWNERS of buildings in the Belait District who need to pay their taxes can now make such payments to the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Department by using their credit cards, following a recent agreement signed between the department and Baiduri Bank.

This arrangement between the Kuala Belait Municipal Department and Baiduri Bank was made official with a signing ceremony held yesterday at the Municipal Department’s headquarters in Kuala Belait.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Hj Md Abdoh Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Salam attended the ceremony yesterday as witness to the arrangement made between the two parties.

Also in attendance was Belait District Officer Hj Jamain Momin together with other senior government officials as well as community leaders of the district.

The arrangement, according to the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Department, is yet another means for the department to enhance the quality of their services and improve their general delivery and performance of said public services.

Aside from paying by cash or cheque, the arrangement provides members of the public with a much safer and more convenient third option, said department officials.

It is hoped that with this additional option, the department can deliver a more effective service to the public and continue to improve its tax collection methods, added officials.

In their efforts to improve their services to the public, the department also advised the public not to default on any of their building tax payments as any delay in payments will also result in the delay of approvals for any renovation or additional construction intended for their property.

Signing the agreement was Hj Md Yunos Bolhassan, Chairman of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Department, while Baiduri Bank was represented by Ti Eng Hui, Deputy General Manager of Retail Banking and Branch Network.
