Radio Television Brunei will be airing 13 episodes in the form of a television magazine based on exposing places of interest in Brunei Darussalam through camera lenses in a photography competition session by bringing five chosen participants to compete in each episode followed by a judging session by panelist.
Entitled “Brunei Shutters”, the show will be aired on national TV as well as internationally. Each episode will have its own theme that will be announced before the competition takes place at destinations set by the Tourism Department under the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.
Among the places of interests include Batang Duri in Temburong, Sungai Brunei Night Safari, Muara Beach, Sungai Mantan, City Tours, Kampong Melilas and The Empire Hotel among others. The objective of the programme is to showcase techniques used by participants when taking photos based on conditions set for each episode.
A press release stated that, “Other than motivating photographers in and out of the country, it can also develop into a hobby or activity that is healthy and can become as a source of income.”
The programme will also come with a “tips” segment when using a camera, care and position of photo taking thus becoming a source of information for amateur photographers.
Judges comprising professional photographers will evaluate as well as comment and give points during each episode as well as advise participants to hone their skills and creativity to attract the interest of viewers.
Each panel will give comments on creativity, lighting, shutter speed and distance and edited photos will not be competed. A winner will be selected in each episode who will then win prizes and proceed to the final round.
A “Kenali Negara Kitani” quiz segment will also be aired with a number of attractive prizes to be won.”It is certain that programme, once aired, can attract the attention of our viewers and become a source of inspiration to the staff of RTB to take initiative and be proactive in creating new programmes,” according to the press release.
