BruSX (Brunei Student Society in Essex) conducted a mini gathering to celebrate the 26th Brunei National Day in Essex University with fellow Bruneian students studying in Essex, United Kingdom. In conjunction with this year’s National Day slogan ‘Negaraku Brunei Darussalam’, the BruSX society decided to dress up according to the colours of the Brunei national flag. Students could be seen wearing yellow, red, white and black attire for the occasion.
The event kicked start with a doa recital to seek blessings from Allah (swt).
Then it was followed by an ice breaking activity. After the ice breaking activity, the event continued with a series of team-building games.
Students were divided into three main groups, consisting of Group A, B and C.
Each of these groups were named after Bruneian food names, such as Ambuyat, Bingka Susu and Cendol Temburong.
Among the main activities conducted was the ‘Brunei Quiz’.
All the questions consisted of facts and figures related to Brunei Darussalam. Students had the opportunity to gain additional knowledge regarding Brunei while playing this quiz. For instance, one of the questions was ‘What is the Bruneian definition of Gadong?’, a true Bruneian would find that easy to answer. The answer to the simple question is ‘Green’.
The main objective of this event is to strengthen ties and relations among the Bruneian students currently studying in Essex, United Kingdom. Even a thousand miles away, the students did not fail to show their love and appreciation to the beloved country, Brunei Darussalam.
