Various religious events were held throughout the country to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Tutong New Converts Association (PESATU) yesterday held such an event at the association’s building in Kg Lubok Pulau.
The guest of honour was Haji Madzneh Haji Mohd Noor, Head of Tutong Religious Affairs, who also led the recital of al-Fatihah.
Also present were Yang Berhormat Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Haji Othman bin Uking, Ahli Majlis Mesyuarat Negara and Alizan bin Haji Ramle, Head of Tutong Dakwah Department.
A special talk was delivered by a guest speaker from the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Haji Yahmiruddin bin Haji Yahmad, who talked about the journey of the Prophet in spreading Islam during the old days. The event also saw four children from the association taking part in story telling on the life of the Prophet.
Organised for the first time, the event was also held in cooperation with the Tutong Dakwah Department and Majlis Belia Daerah Tutong.
PESATU was first established in 1982 with the aims of gathering all new converts in the district. The association registered under the Ministry of Home Affairs with 200 members in March 1983.
Nowadays, the association opens the Guidance of Mualaf class to spread more of the Islamic knowledge to its members.
