Philippine Embassy hosts appreciation dinner for labour officer

The Philippine Embassy in Brunei recently hosted an appreciation dinner for Brunei’s Labour Officer, Awang Rosli bin Hj Matnoor for his valuable contributions to the efforts of the Philippine Embassy in protecting and promoting the welfare of overseas Filipino workers in Brunei Darussalam.

A Plaque of Recognition handed by Ambassador Alexander B Yano to Awang Rosli also cited the latter’s “sound advice, professionalism, reassuring presence and readiness to help find solutions to work-related problems of foreign workers in distressed situations.”

The dinner coincided with the get-together of Asean labour attachés in Brunei who exchange experiences and got updated on the new Brunei Labour policies and trends.

Attended by attachés and diplomatic corps officers handling foreign workers, the dinner was arranged by Labour Attaché, Elizabeth O Recio of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) of the Philippine Embassy.

Also in attendance were Brunei Labour Department Assistant Commissioners Shariful Bahri Hj Sawas and Awg Zulhilmi bin Abidin as well as foreign envoys from various embassies.
