Welcome to Tucson, Brunei

The Brunei Times Mar 6th, 2010 .

THE 2010 Hyundai Tucson received a warm welcome yesterday at its Brunei launch officiated by Yang Amat Mulia Pg Anak Abdul Ghaffar Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Hj Idris.

The launch of Hyundai’s all-new Tucson, also known as the “ix35″, is expected to herald a flurry of sales at the Setia Motors showroom. The previous Tucson was a record seller; it exceeded 2,600 units sold in Brunei Darussalam since the day it was launched by Setia Motors.

The newest version of the compact CUV is based on the Hyundai ix-ONIC concept, which has a fluidic sculpture styling that is sleek and sporty looking.

Fitted with a gasoline Theta II 2.0-litre MPI four-cylinder engine or gasoline Theta II 2.4-litre MPI four-cylinder engine, the new Tucson comes with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission as well as ABS.

This optional electronic 4WD automatically routes power to the wheels offering best traction and reducing wheelspin. It has 4WD Lock Switch that sets torque at a constant 50/50 split between the front and rear wheels to improve traction in certain low-speed conditions just by pressing a button.

The new Tucson has a remote keyless entry that locks and unlocks doors using buttons on key fob. There is an optional smart key with push-button start that locks and unlocks doors by pressing small button on door handle and you can start the engine without the key.

It also comes with a Downhill Brake Control (DBC) and Hillstart Assist Control (HAC). DBC helps the driver maintain vehicle control on steep downhill descents and maintains speed without using the brakes. This can be done with the driver engaging the system by pressing a switch and it automatically disengages when the driver applies the brakes.
