GAZA, March 7 (NNN-KUNA) — US Vice President Joe Biden will arrive in Israel on Monday to discuss several issues including the Palestinian file, daily Haaretz reported Sunday.
The Haaretz added on its website, “During his visit Biden will meet with several Israeli officials including the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to discuss the Iranian nuclear threats.”
“In addition the Iranian nuclear issue, the Israeli-Palestinian track is beginning to show signs of life as US mediator George Mitchell is expected to return to the region in the hope of laying the groundwork for Biden’s visit,” the daily added.
Mitchell and Netanyahu are expected to meet today in Jerusalem, before the former heads to Ramallah to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, within the framework of reactivating Palestinian-Israeli negotiations.
Haaretz added, “Biden will request that the Israeli officials sustain from any military actions in response to the Israeli threats, before the implementation of sanctions to be impose on Iran by the white house.”
In accordance with Haaretz, the Israeli Foreign Minister is heading to Washington next week to hold talks with toop US officials on the issue of Iranian sanctions.
Israel wants the US to impose sanctions on Iran similar to those imposed on Cuba since 1960, due to the missile crisis at that time.– NNN- KUNA![]()
