BOLIVIA CLOSES CHILE-HAITI SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN

LA PAZ, March 7 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Solidarity Campaign “Chile and Haiti Need of You”, sponsored by Bolivian Government during this week finishes Saturday with a telethon and the participation of popular artists.

According to Oscar Coca, Minister of the Presidency and head of the campaign, the initiative’s main goal was to raise funds to cooperate with the restoration of the damages in Haiti and Chile which were devastated by quakes in January and February respectively.

Coca remembered that the campaign’s promoter was President Evo Morales, who announced that he would note half of his March wage to donate it to quake victims. Vice- President Alvaro Garcia also did so.

He pointed out the noble compromise with this cause of public and private companies and people in general.

Quiriquina, Rijchary, Musica de Maestros, “Guitarra en Mano”, Arawi and Semilla groups will participate in the evening telethlon.

During telethon will be auctioned paintings from famous plastic artists Mamani Mamani, David Vargas, Alejandro Archondo, Paola Guardia and Alejandra Delgado.

Bolivian and Chilean Red Crosses activated the Family Restoration Network to receive requests from people who wish to know about their relatives or friends present situation.

According to official records 300,000 people died in the quake which stroke Haiti and 800 in the quake which stroke Chile.

Both countries are under great pressure because of the quake’s aftershocks, one of them of 6.8 grades in Richter scale in Chilean central region Friday’s early morning. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
