AN ancient tombstone situated near the hill slope of the royal mausoleum was recently discovered.
Officials from the Brunei History Centre conducted a research on the ancient tombstone and brought relevant tools to depict the tombstone that measured 40 cm in width, 94 cm in length with a thickness of 14 cm. The features of the tombstone were inscribed with “bunga kembang kiapu” and “daun selambar”. The tombstone was believed to be from the 15th century and early 16th century.
The tombstone was discovered by Samra bin Haji Ongsang, a cleaner at the royal mausoleum and an employee of the Ministry of the Religious Affairs.
