CAIRO, March 9 (NNN-KUNA) — Invitations have been sent to 80 countries for the upcoming international conference for Darfur’s international donors conference scheduled to be held here on March 21.
The conference, which will be co-chaired by Egypt and Turkey, will be sponsored by the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), General Director of the Sudan Department in the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Mohammad Qassim said in a press release Monday.
He said that the conference will be dubbed “development for peace” and will feature participation of 25 donor countries and members of OIC along with other international organisations, like the United Nations, African Union (AU), the World Bank, and the Arab League, and non-governmental organisations.
The Ambassador said that the conference will aim to allocate USD 2 billion for projects which will be presented during the conference.
Such projects will be in the fields of housing, agriculture, modern planning, and fish resources.
The conference will further set up several follow-up committees for the projects and will determine the type of project that will be adopted, the Ambassador added.
