The Ministry of Defence yesterday received a farewell call from the outgoing Chief of Defence Force, Singapore Armed forces (SAF), Lieutenant General Dato Paduka Seri Desmond Kuek Bak Chye at Bolkiah Garrison.
Upon arrival at the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant General Dato Paduka Seri Desmond Kuek Bak Chye inspected a guard of honour mounted by personnel of the Royal Brunei Land Forces.
This was followed by a farewell courtesy call to the Deputy Minister of Defence, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Hj Mohammad Yasmin bin Hj Umar and also a call to the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Hj Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin.
During the tenure of the Chief of Defence Force, Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Lieutenant General Dato Paduka Seri Desmond Kuek Bak Chye, he contributed profoundly to the enhancement of the long standing relationship and bilateral cooperation between the RBAF and the SAF.
Both armed forces regularly send its personnel for military exercises, bilateral training, meetings and seminars. Consequently, this visit was also meant to bridge the friendship that was built during his tenure.
The outgoing Chief of Defence Force, Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), and his spouse Datin Claudel Elizabeth Kuek as well as other members of the delegation arrived in Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning for a two-day farewell visit.
