LA PAZ, March 10 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – The Bolivian Government reached an agreement with leaders of the Higher Teacher Training Schools and thereby prevented a likely strike announced by the teachers union.
The pact establishes the provision of equipment, infrastructure and attention to the academic demands of the 27 schools of this type.
On behalf of the government, the Education Minister Roberto Aguilar and Deputy Minister of Higher Education Diego Pary signed the deal. Both officials were in conversations with union leaders since yesterday.
“Colleges are the main point of the process of the educational revolution, therefore we gathered their concerns in order to improve the training of future teachers”, said Aguilar.
Students asked for complementary courses, positions for new teachers, cancellation of admission tests completed recently and the dismissal of two officials from the Ministry of Education.
The first demands were already met but regarding the latter the Government asked the union leaders to present the documented complaints to the Transparency Unit. –NNN-PRENSA LATINA
