TEGUCIGALPA, Mar 10 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – The National Popular Resistance Front (FNRP) announced the carrying out of a referendam to create a constituent assembly to reform the country.
The Front said in a press statement that the action will take place on June 28, a year after the coup that overthrew President Manuel Zelaya.
The coup army, which is supported by the leaderships of traditional parties, business associations and the church prevented the carrying out on that day of a national poll on a constituent that was organised by the government of Zelaya.
The statement said the Front underlines that the assembly will “represent the will of the people to build a real democracy and transform the system of injustice and repression established by the oligarchy.”
The Front will also convened the Second Meeting for the Refoundation of Honduras that will take place in La Esperanza city on Fri March 12 to 14.
The Front condemns the US interference in the internal affairs of the country allegedly carried out by its Ambassador Hugo Llorens.
The FNRP maintains that Llorens “tries to give some legitimacy to the de facto regime in a coarse way claiming a false national dialogue that ignores the rejection of the majority of the population to the dictatorship.”
It reiterates its non-recognition of the government of conservative President Porfirio Lobo, who was elected in the controversial Nov 29 elections. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
