With the number of road accidents continuing to surge nationwide resulting in serious injuries and fatalities, Audi has placed more emphasis on its safety features for the modern day driver.
During the official launching of the Department of Land Transport’s driving test and training complex in Kg Sg Akar, the dealer of Audi cars, TCY Motors Sdn Bhd showcased the new Audi A5 coupe, emphasising its unique, active and passive vehicle safety features.
Also in attendance was the Minister of Communications, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Awg Abu Bakar Hj Apong, who got up close and personal with the award winning coupe, introduced to the local market in August last year.
Perhaps Audi’s most popular feature is the LED daytime running lights. According to a European safety research, 50 per cent of all accidents, which occurs at junctions during the day, are caused by not seeing other road users in time.
Experts, as a solution to the problem, recommended switching on the dipped-beam headlights during the day or use additional daytime running lights. Due to this reason, all Audi models now have daytime running lights with LED light sources, which provide visibility to other road users.
Electromechanical parking brakes that hold the car at a standstill including drive-off assistance and emergency braking function when on the move are among the other safety highlights of the Audi A5 coupe.
Audi Hold Assist is yet another feature in the line up of options that prevents the car from rolling away when it is driven on a slope and drive-off refinement is also enhanced.
