China’s Premier Wen Jiabao to visit Brunei

CHINESE Premier Wen Jiabao will visit Brunei Darussalam next month, the first by the Chinese premier to the Sultanate.

Outgoing Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Mdm Tong Xiaoling said this at a farewell dinner hosted by the BSB Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Tuesday night at a restaurant in Gadong.
She said the visit would further strengthen the bilateral relationship between both countries. Brunei Darussalam will be one of the Asean countries the Chinese premier will be visiting.

The outgoing Chinese ambassador had served a three-year term in Brunei Darussalam since March 7, 2007.

She said that during the past three years, both countries have further enhanced their bilateral relations, especially in the areas of economy, defence, culture, education and others.
She lauded Brunei Darussalam as a peaceful nation.

She encouraged Bruneians and the chamber to visit China to seek business tie-ups with their counterparts in China. She also praised the effort by the chamber in helping to further strengthen ties
between both countries, especially in trade.

Meanwhile, President of BSB Chinese Chamber of Commerce Dr Chan Su Kiat in his brief speech expressed the chamber’s thanks and appreciation to the ambassador. He said through the good rapport more Chinese tourists have visited the country and Chinese businessmen have come to seek business opportunities in Brunei Darussalam.

Also present at the function were officers from the embassy as well as executive committee members of the BSB Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
