CONSTANTINE, ALGERIA, March 12 (NNN-APS) — Algeria’s national airline, Air Algerie, is to launch a scheduled weekly return flight between Constantine and Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city, from march 30, according to the regional manager of the airline’s branch here.
The new service, which is part of Air Algerie’s restructuring plan to serve other destinations in Europe from Mohamed Boudiaf Airport in this city located 430 km east of the capital, Algiers, is aimed at securing the loyalty of the potential customers, who have been forced to fly to Algiers or Tunis to reach Istanbul, Bedreddine Mekroud told APS here Wednesday.
Two direct flights will link Constantine to Ataturk international airport every Tuesday and Thursday, using a latest generation Boeing 737-600 aircraft with a 101-seat capacity, he added.
First-rate services will be ensured during the flight to last about 2hours 45 minutes, said Latifa Lagouara, an Air Algerie executive.
The decision to ensure a new service, which was operational before being interrupted in the 1990s, is to fulfil the wishes expressed by one of the services used by a great number of customers, with more diversified objectives today.
This was not the case in the past as most passengers were peddlers, Mekroud said.
