KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (NN-BERNAMA) — Another strong earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale occurred off the coast of central Chile at 10.40pm Malaysian time (1440 UTC) Thursday .
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement here Thursday night that the quake’s epicentre was 122 km southwest of Santiago, Chile’s capital.
However, the quake did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, the statement added.
